The project
The SPI project needed a PR expert to mentor them on how to give the most effective presentation about their project, in front of a large group of philanthropists, in order to win the top prize in LIN’s Community Grant competition on December 18, 2011.
SPI was one of the three NPOs supporting migrant workers selected to compete in the competition. Each NPO was matched with a Marketing/PR company to prepare for their presentations.

The work
The pro bono team, led by Ms. Nguyen Tran Hoang Anh, Communication Manager at Brand Maker, worked with SPI manager to develop a powerful presentation. SPI project aimed to provide vocational and living skill training for 100 at risk male teenageers in Ho Chi Minh City.
The pro bono team decided to open the presentation with an excerpt from the movie “Lost in paradise”, which featured the plight of country boys who left their hometown to Ho Chi Minh city, unaware of the awaiting risks and traps. It was then followed by a powerpoint presentation by the SPI manager, Mdm Do Thi Loc. The team spent several hours to prepare the slideshow and mentor Mdm. Do Thi Loc on presentation skills.
The impact
SPI’s creative presentation impressed the participants at the event, and was one of the important factors contributing to their highest number of votes. The result won them a community grant of VND 80,000,000.
“It was the first time that we received such professional marketing support from skilled volunteers,” said Mdm. Do Thi Loc. “With the proactive and detailed consultancy from Ms. Nguyen Tran Hoang Anh, Communication Director at Brand Maker, I could prepare better for the presentation and that helped us to win first prize at the event. I have learned so much from the skilled volunteers after this partnership.”
